On Monday the 7th of March Margrét Auður Sigurbjörnsdóttir will defend her Ph.D. thesis in biology.
The thesis is titled: The lichen-associated microbiome: taxonomy and functional roles of lichen-associated bacteria.

The defence will take place in the University Aula in the Main Building at 14:00.

Opponents are dr. Gabriele Berg, Professor at the University of Graz, Austria and dr. Viggó Marteinsson, Research Group Leader at the Matis.
The supervisor is dr. Oddur Vilhelmsson, Professor at the Faculty of Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Akureyri.
The doctoral committee also includes dr. Ólafur S. Andrésson, Professor at the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Iceland, dr. Kristinn P. Magnússon, Professor at the Faculty of Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Akureyri and  dr. Starri Heiðmarsson, Head of Botany at the Icelandic Institute of Natural History.

The ceremony will be chaired by dr Eva Benediktsdóttir, Associate Professor and Vice Head of the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences  at the University of Iceland.
